ANCI Lazio expresses its strongest condemnation of the serious and unacceptable threatening inscriptions that appeared in Naples against the mayor Gaetano Manfredi, national president of ANCI.
An episode that strikes not only the first citizen of Naples, but the entire community of local administrators, who are increasingly exposed to acts of intimidation and violence when carrying out their mandate in the service of their communities.
ANCI Lazio joins the solidarity expressed by the President of the ANCI National Council Marco Fioravanti, mayor of Ascoli Piceno, who pointed out that the daily commitment of mayors, beyond any political affiliation, is too often hindered by cowardly and unacceptable actions.
The president of ANCI Lazio also spoke on the matter Daniele Sinibaldi, who stated:
«The threats and intimidation aimed at mayors represent a direct attack on democratic institutions and the daily work of local administrators. To Gaetano Manfredi goes the full solidarity of ANCI Lazio and all the mayors of the territory: in the face of episodes of this kind it is fundamental to remain united, firmly defending the role of the municipalities and those who represent them».
ANCI Lazio reiterates its closeness to Mayor Manfredi and to all local administrators who, with responsibility and dedication, continue to perform their role in increasingly complex contexts, in the conviction that the defence of democratic institutions also requires a clear and shared stance against all forms of threats and intimidation.
