ANCI Lazio hosted the coordination meeting of the European project Streets for Citizens, funded by the Programme INTERREG Euro-MED, which took place in Rome from 27 to 29 January 2026.

The meeting represented a fundamental step of confrontation between the project partners, fostering the sharing of experiences, joint work and co-design of strategic documents aimed at strengthening and developing project activities based on the Tactical Urbanism. These are low-cost, high-impact interventions designed to quickly improve the quality of public space and urban liveability.

In the course of the work, ANCI Lazio presented the co-design initiated for the realisation of a school road at via Cina 4, in Rome, at the’Istituto Comprensivo Matteo Ricci, in collaboration with the Municipality IX of Roma Capitale.

During the last day of activities, the partners also visited a significant example of tactical urbanism in the neighbourhood Tufello, in via Monte Gennaro, where a school street was built. The experience showed how targeted and sustainable interventions can contribute concretely to improving safety, accessibility and quality of public space, promoting more inclusive and people-friendly cities.

All partners involved in the pilot actions are now fully operational in the implementation of their respective projects, contributing to the transformation of urban spaces and putting citizens at the centre of the cities' development processes.

Heartfelt thanks for the hospitality go to the CTE - Centre for Emerging Technologies of Roma Capitale and the President of City Hall III, Paolo Marchionne.
