In the evocative setting of the Praeneste Forum, within the XXVIII edition of the Festival del Giglietto e Ghiottonerie dei Monti Prenestini, the meeting promoted by ANCI Lazio took place, dedicated to the enhancement of the identitary excellences of the territories and the Communal Designations (De.Co.), within the framework of the Origine Comune project.
The initiative saw the participation of Igino Macchi, Mayor of the Municipality of Palestrina, Daniele Sinibaldi, President of ANCI Lazio and Mayor of the Municipality of Rieti, Manuel Magliocchetti, Councillor of the Municipality of Palestrina and member of the Board of Directors of ANCI Lazio, and Luca Masi, Secretary-General of ANCI Lazio, who shared a reflection on the value of local productions as tools for protecting identity, promoting the territory, and sustainable development of communities.
During the initiative, an important milestone was also celebrated: the Giglietto di Palestrina was officially recognised as a product De.Co. and joined the project Common Origin of ANCI Lazio, which values the agri-food excellences and traditions of the Municipalities of Lazio through the system of Communal Designations.
Il Giglietto now also has a dedicated page on the portal. originecomune.it, where his story, characteristics, and deep connection with the city of Palestrina are told, contributing to the promotion of one of the most representative specialities of the Prenestine tradition.
At the end of the meeting, there was a tasting of De.Co. products from the Origine Comune project, which allowed participants to discover and appreciate some of Lazio's food and wine excellences. A convivial moment that confirmed how the valorisation of typical productions represents an important tool for promoting territories, capable of strengthening their cultural identity and supporting the development of local communities.
