Today, at the Benedetto Robazza Museum of Rocca Priora, the second meeting of the European project MOVES - Mountain Voices for Engaged and Sustainable Democracy, co-financed by the European Union and promoted by ANCI Lazio together with international partners.
The meeting, dedicated to Thematic forum on rights and access to services, represented an important moment for dialogue between institutions, local administrators, citizens, and regional stakeholders, with the aim of initiating a shared path towards Co-creation of a Local Action Plan for the mountainous areas of Lazio.
After the project is launched, the path truly gets underway, bringing the main critical issues affecting inland areas to the centre of the debate, starting with access to essential services and participation in democratic life.
The MOVES project aims to counteract the phenomenon of democratic disengagement characterises many mountainous areas in Italy, Albania and Portugal, with particular attention to the categories most exposed to the risk of marginalisation, including young people, women, the elderly and minorities.
During the meeting in Rocca Priora, useful reflections and proposals emerged to strengthen:
- Active citizenship
- inclusive participatory processes
- the dialogue between local communities and institutions
The forum has also allowed for the collection of concrete contributions from participants, which will form the basis for defining more effective territorial actions and policies that respond to the real needs of mountain communities.
Today's meeting represents a further step in the MOVES project journey, which will continue in the coming months with new engagement and discussion activities, with the aim of strengthening territorial cohesion and promoting sustainable and inclusive development of inland areas.
At the conclusion of the event, both the ANCI Lazio Consultations and the Association's Executive Committee convened. The latter resolved on new projects aimed at fostering the growth and strengthening of association activities.
“The MOVES project represents a concrete opportunity to refocus on the needs of mountain areas and strengthen the bond between institutions and citizens,” declared Daniele Sinibaldi, President of ANCI Lazio. "Through these moments of discussion, we want to build shared pathways capable of generating effective and lasting responses for the territories."
Particular thanks go to the Mayor of Rocca Priora for their hospitality and willingness to help, which contributed to the full success of the initiative.
