Language, Rights and Labour: at Palazzo Caetani institutions, schools, universities and the third sector come together to discuss the value of the Italian language as a tool for inclusion
The 2nd Roadshow took place last May 26th, in the setting of Palazzo Caetani in Cisterna di Latina. «Language, Rights, and Work: building inclusion», organised as part of the project PRILS Lazio 6 – Lazio Regional Plan for Civic and Linguistic Training, coordinated by the Lazio Region.
The appointment, moderated by Romina Papetti, Project Manager of PRILS Lazio 6 and an expert in integration policies, it represented an important moment for discussion between institutions, local authorities, schools, universities, the third sector, and reception operators. At the centre of the debate was the value of the Italian language as a key to accessing rights, employment, and active participation in community life.
Among the interventions, particularly significant was that of Luca Masi, Secretary General of ANCI Lazio, who indicated the path taken by the Cisterna territory as an example of integration built through continuous policies and local services.
Masi recalled the work carried out by ANCI Lazio in support of local authorities, through mediation, support, and socio-vocational inclusion tools, also highlighting the growing value of digital skills, which are increasingly necessary for accessing services and work opportunities. In this direction, there is also the Job inclusion centre activated at ANCI Lazio, conceived as a concrete point of reference for those who support integration processes in the territory.
The day was enlivened by numerous contributions. They offered their greetings and their reflections. Valentino Mantini, Mayor of Cisterna di Latina, and Stefania Krilic, Councillor for Welfare and Social Policies of the Municipality of Cisterna di Latina.
For the Lazio Region, there intervened Ornella Guglielmino, Director of the Regional Directorate for Social Inclusion, while the world of research and training was represented by Francesca Angelini, a lecturer at Sapienza University of Rome, from Viviana Bombonati, Headteacher of the CPIA of Latina, and by Lapo Vannini, Italian L2 teacher at MaTeMù – CIES.
The work has made it clear how language and civic education represent a fundamental lever for promoting people's autonomy, combating conditions of vulnerability and exploitation, and building paths to conscious citizenship.
I work-lab dedicated to «invisible obstacles» to learning and the relationship between language, work and rights, have shared experiences, critical issues and proposals. A discussion that confirmed the need to strengthen linguistic-cultural mediation and to consolidate integrated territorial networks, capable of generating real opportunities for inclusion.
A path that continues, putting people, rights and the value of participation at its centre.
