An important recognition for the president of CAL Lazio and member of ANCI Lazio, who will lead the new national body created to strengthen the representation of local autonomies and the dialogue with the institutions.
Luisa Piacentini, president of the Lazio Regional Councils (CAL) and member of ANCI Lazio, was elected as the president of the new National Coordination of Regional Councils. The election took place on October 21 in Rome, at the Lazio Regional Council, during the meeting that sanctioned the establishment of the body, created with the aim of strengthening the representation of the territories and promoting a stable dialogue between municipalities, provinces, metropolitan cities and regional and national institutions.
A particularly significant result for Lazio and for the entire system of local autonomies, which rewards the institutional path pursued by Luisa Piacentini and her commitment to enhancing the role of the municipalities, with particular attention to smaller territorial realities. The new Coordination will serve as a means of connecting the CALs of the different Italian Regions, fostering the sharing of experiences, good practices, and proposals on the main issues affecting local authorities.
Joining Piacentini will be Vice President Francesco Lai, representing CAL Sardegna, while the Coordination Office will also be represented by Piedmont, Lombardy, Calabria and Marche. Among others, the President of the Lazio Regional Council Antonello Aurigemma and the Regional Secretary for Budget Giancarlo Righini took part in the meeting, who emphasized the importance of the new body and institutional collaboration in support of local administrations.
Among the Coordination’s priorities are strengthening the role of the CALs, revising the Single Text on Local Authorities, the financial sustainability of municipalities, improving public services, and supporting smaller-sized administrations. The first major national event will be the ANCI annual assembly, scheduled to take place in Verona from November 25 to 27, 2026, during which the Coordination will have a dedicated space for discussion with representatives of Italian municipalities.
ANCI Lazio expresses its sincere congratulations to Luisa Piacentini for the prestigious appointment she has received, a recognition that also takes on particular significance for the Association, of which Piacentini is a member and with which she has long shared the commitment to the promotion of local autonomy.
