The AGORÀ training course, organised by ANCI Lazio and UPI Lazio in collaboration with Lumsa University of Rome, kicks off today. It is part of the Performa PA training program of FORMEZ, and will delve into the issues surrounding the adoption and procurement of artificial intelligence systems in local public administrations. The course will involve over 300 managers and employees from Municipalities, the Metropolitan City, and Provinces in Lazio.
“The course aims to guide Lazio's local authorities in the informed and responsible adoption of artificial intelligence-related technologies.” This is stated by Luca Masi and Gaetano Palombelli, secretary general of ANCI Lazio and director of UPI Lazio.
The training course will be structured into two modules relating to the “Legal and Regulatory Framework for AI in Public Administration” and “AI Technologies and Solutions for Public Administration”, and an applied workshop entitled “From Needs to Contract”. It will be delivered online and comprise a total of 24 training hours, taking place from 25 May to 9 June 2026.
“Governing technological change,” state Daniele Sinibaldi, President of ANCI Lazio, and Alessandro Romoli, President of UPI Lazio, "is one of the most urgent challenges for local authorities today. Artificial intelligence is not a topic for the future; it is already embedded in decision-making, administrative processes, and citizen services. For this reason, training is not an accessory but an indispensable condition for exercising conscious and responsible governance. We are convinced that only adequately prepared administrators and officials can lead – rather than be subjected to – the digital transition. The AGORÀ course arises from this conviction and the shared desire to work side-by-side, pooling the skills and networks of Municipalities and Provinces, to build a more capable, more efficient, and more responsive local public administration that meets the real needs of our communities."
