Yesterday, Rome hosted a new stage of the international cooperation project dedicated to urban regeneration, climate resilience and the sustainable development of cities. At the school in Via Cina, in the territory of the IX Municipality of Rome Capitale, the delegations from Malaga and Madrid, in Spain, Cali, in Colombia, Santo Domingo, in the Dominican Republic, and Concepci\u00f3n, in Chile, visited the pilot space created within the European project URWAN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For Rome, ANCI Lazio, Risorse per Roma, Sapienza University of Rome and Paola Angelucci, Councilor of Rome Capital\u2019s IX Municipality, participated in the meeting, giving rise to a day of exchange between administrations, technicians and experts involved in the topics of sustainable urban transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Andrea Vignoli, coordinator of the project, represented ANCI Lazio, the lead body of the URWAN project, and presented to the international delegations the path developed by the partnership and the work that led to the creation of the Roman pilot space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The visit provided the opportunity to concretely show how a European project can translate into an intervention on the ground, capable of integrating climate adaptation, sustainable water management, green infrastructure, and the redevelopment of urban spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The space on Via Cina is indeed one of the main demonstration sites of URWAN \u2013 Urban Regenerative Water Avant-garde (N), a project coordinated by ANCI Lazio and developed within the Interreg Euro-MED program. The project promotes the use of Nature-based Solutions as tools to improve the resilience of cities to the effects of climate change and, in particular, to rethink the management of water in urban environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The area created at the school is born as a veritable urban laboratory, in which to experiment with solutions capable of increasing soil permeability, facilitating the management of rainwater, improving the microclimate and restoring quality and functionality to the collective spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The presence of international delegations has allowed this experience to be linked to the policies and projects developed in other urban contexts, creating a direct comparison between European and Latin American cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In this context, the role of ANCI Lazio as the lead organization of URWAN assumes particular importance. The Association\u2019s work does not merely consist of coordinating the partnership; it also aims to facilitate the transfer of the solutions tested, by connecting local administrations, technical expertise, universities, and international networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Andrea Vignoli accompanied the delegations in reading the URWAN experience from this perspective: not a single isolated intervention, but an experimental model to be adapted to different urban, climatic and social contexts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The visit also forms part of a broader international cooperation project involving the participating cities, strengthening the dialogue between European and Latin American experiences on the topics of urban regeneration, sustainability and innovation in local governance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For ANCI Lazio, the day thus confirms the value of European projects as instruments capable not only of financing innovative interventions, but also of building stable networks between territories, fostering the circulation of skills and creating opportunities for dialogue between administrations that face common urban challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The URWAN pilot space in Via Cina, in Municipio IX, becomes, in this perspective, not only an intervention for Rome\u2019s climate resilience, but also a place for international exchange and learning: a concrete example of how cooperation between local authorities, research, and European networks can contribute to the construction of more sustainable, resilient, and inclusive cities.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
