Rome, 2 April 2026 \u2013 A move described as \u201chistoric\u201d for Italy's system of local authorities. The institutional meeting of the Presidents of the Councils of Local Authorities (CAL), promoted by CAL Lazio, took place at the headquarters of the Conference of Legislative Assemblies of Regions and Autonomous Provinces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting, titled \u201cLocal Autonomies and CAL: Towards National Coordination\u201d<\/em>, has brought together representatives from across Italy with the aim of strengthening the role of the territories in decision-making processes and building a stable network for dialogue between the different regional realities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The proceedings were opened by the President of CAL Lazio, Luisa Piacentini, who stressed the importance of initiating a shared path capable of enhancing the contribution of local authorities within the institutional system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the course of the meeting, a concrete and significant result was achieved: the establishment of a permanent coordination table between the regional CALs. This is a tool that marks the beginning of a structured national journey, aimed at strengthening the representation of local autonomies and giving greater impact to the demands of the territories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The objective is clear: to build stable coordination that allows the CALs to communicate more effectively not only with the Government but also with European institutions, bringing the needs and priorities of local realities to the community level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marina Battisti, representing ANCI Lazio, also attended the meeting, confirming the central role of local authority associations in strengthening the system of institutional collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting between the Presidents of the CALs represented a moment for sharing experiences, critical issues, and best practices, laying the groundwork for a new phase of cooperation between territories. This initiative aims to make the dialogue between Regions and local authorities increasingly structured, in compliance with the principles of subsidiarity and institutional collaboration that underpin the CAL system. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiative therefore marks the beginning of a common path aimed at strengthening the role of local authorities, making them protagonists in decision-making processes and in the construction of public policies, also in a European context.<\/p>\n\n\n
